As if I did not leave my place, it is occupied by my presence, yet I am not present.
Our bodies are the ultimate freedom and your sole possession in all the worlds; in them we discover the world and in them we preserve memories; your forever and after archive.
Like a floating soul searching for a body, I am searching for my place in these memories
I didn’t leave like the rest
That who is imprisoned by nostalgia never leaves!!
What you see in front of you is a shadow,
What you see infront of you is mine.
What you see is the remains of my being.
Mayar Nayel
The Soul,
A philosophical notion, of a supernatural and intangible entity, also considered of miraculous and unique properties in all living organisms. Amongst the meanings of the word “soul”, what revives bodies, the source, relief, peace and tranquility.
Since the consciousness of mankind, it has been a continuous inquisition about the nature of the soul, not comprehending its origin or its secret.
And on a soul’s journey, searching in her memories and memoirs, Nayel takes us on a tour full of transparency and warmth, sailing across various worlds of reminiscence, people and pictures.
We wander with her between two worlds, one dead and the other unable to be born, as depicted by Nelson Mandella in his journey and his bewilderment. This is what Nayel’s work is manifesting, her drawings on translucide organza transparently present the journey of this lost soul while searching for a place in her memories. We accompany her in her search for our share of memories, in a wild and confusing goose chase, sometimes chasing our own memories, and sometimes they chase us and never did we give up on finding our way back home to self discovery through our present and our past and sometimes through our future.
